My Personal Learning Style Wow! I have a personal learning style! If I had given any thought to my learning style prior to this course, I would have said simply, Some things are easy for me to learn, and some things are not. Now I can say, I am a grouper, a top-down learner, an owl, in the C-D quadrants, and my strong intelligences are linguistic, intrapersonal, and interpersonal. What all this means, still, is some things are easy for me to learn, and some things are not. But there I go again, simplifying the matter. My learning experience throughout grade school was cast in the Traditional method, employing rote, reward-and-punishment, and repetition, repetition, repetition. It was a one-size-fits-all approach, intended to†¦show more content†¦Secondly, some of us prefer to start with minute details and study from the bottom up, accruing information and data systematically, and building to a mastery of the topic. These people are considered stringers. A grouper like me prefers less structure, a more free-formed, big-picture approach that allows divergence and eclectic side trips leading to a general understanding of the subject. The third element has to do with the four quadrants of the brain that dictate our preferences for dealing with facts or emotions, learning independently or with a group, and using logic or creativity. Ned Herrmann, who wrote The Creative Brain, has pioneered study in this area. The problem with this is that none of the personae give us the same definition of the nature of man. First of all, there is Gulliver himself, who bases his judgments on the ways in which the Yahoos behave and the way the people from his country behave. He ties it all together at the end in his reflections. Most of all, throughout the book, we get an idea of the nature of man through Gullivers behavior. The Yahoos cannot comment on the nature of man, however, they display it in the ways they behave and interact. Though I will thoroughly explore all specialties, I have a particular interest in pediatrics. Buddhism is a religion that was created and established by Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, a hindu who, after seeing what he called the four sights, sought to understand and explain the reason why the hardships of the world occurred. This lead him to create the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, both of which are meant to help anyone who follows them to reach prajna, the awareness of ultimate reality and then eventually reach Nirvana, a state in which an individual has extinguished the flames of desire, allowing them to escape Samsara’s suffering. Though this religion has many features of Hinduism involved with it, such as Samsara and karma it is largely non-theistic.
